Retired US Air Force Master Sergeant Paul A. Hill, 83, of Fayetteville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, August 2, 2021.

Paul was born October 31, 1937, to Hobert and Ruth Hill of Claudville, Virginia. He joined the Air Force and made it his career for 22 years, during which he served in the Vietnam War and earned a Bronze Star. After retirement, Paul worked for several area car dealerships in auto body repair. He enjoyed golf, gardening, hunting and spending time at the home place in Claudville. Paul was a lifelong learner who never let a moment of his day go to waste. He truly loved his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Northwood Temple with Dr. John Hedgepeth presiding. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 6 at 1 pm at Mary Horner Walker Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Claudville, VA with Rev. Bill Rountree presiding.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Sherry Ann Hill.

He is survived by his son, Michael Hill of Sevierville, TN; daughter, Michele Fanning and husband Dyrck, of Lumberton, NC; one grandson, Drew Fanning of Charlotte; five siblings, Louise Hansen (Gary), Frances Radford (Alvin), Joanne Hill, Nelson Hill (Brenda) and Evonne Hill, all of Virginia; a host of nieces and nephews; his Hardee’s Crew; his special friend, Jule Gainous; and the Cape Fear Seniors.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

We are so blessed to have had such a hardworking and patient man that we are able to call Daddy, “Papa”, brother and friend. We are so grateful for his kind words, strong spirit, and love of God.

Memorials may be to either Northwood Temple 4250 Ramsey St. Fayetteville NC 28311 or Mary Horner Walker Presbyterian Church 6157 Little Dan River Road, Claudville, VA 24076.
