“Ellie Mae,” an adopted rescue.

Patrick Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) provides care for the basic needs of local animals with medical care, shelter, food, compassion and kindness.

We work closely with the Patrick County Animal Shelter by assisting with their needs as well as local pets that are referred to us directly. Donations of used blankets and towels, rubber chewy treats for dogs, and catnip-filled toys for cats will help us to keep our charges safe and more comfortable while waiting for their families to pick them up or for adoption to their forever homes.

Donation drop-offs can be taken to Pet Provisions at 332 Patrick Avenue, or directly to the Patrick County Animal Shelter, at 22 Transfer Station Road.

Patrick County Animal Shelter can help if a pet is lost by alerting Animal Control personnel, posting information on Facebook, or contacting you directly if your animal is found and taken to the shelter.

Families should keep several photos of their pet(s) to help the shelter identify him/her. All wandering, lost, and/or found pets should also be reported directly to the shelter by calling (276) 694-6259.

PAWS’ next meeting is March 28 at 6 p.m., in the Hooker Building, on Woodland Drive in Stuart.
