The Patrick County High School Class of 1971, the first graduates of what was then the “new” high school, celebrated their 55th reunion on September 26. The event was hosted by class member Kay Horton Eustler and her husband Scott at their Spirithaven Farm.
This class was unique in a number of ways that created the identity of the school. Members of the class were instrumental in selecting the Cougar mascot, the green and gold colors, the yearbook and student newspaper names and writing the first student handbook among quite a few other accomplishments, a number of which still stand today.
Of the 176 seniors, each one successfully graduated from PCHS. Those class members who have passed away since 1971 were remembered in a candlelight ceremony.
