The Patrick County Varsity Cross Country team hosted a district match at Rotary Field on September 10. It was a hot day, and the course proved to be difficult one. The Boys 5000-meter relay consisted of a field of 77 runners. Brandon Rohrbach placed 27th for the Cougars. Tristan Moore finished 44th, and Riley Brim finished 49th. The Girls 5000-meter relay had 67 runners. Katie Brintle finished 6th, Chloie Wright came in 21st, and Irene Smith finished in 26th place.

The Middle School Team competed in the 2500-meter relay. Alyssa Callahan and Sadie Martin finished 4th and 5th respectively in the girls’ category.  Moises Cisneros and Easton Harris finished 1st and 2nd in the boys’ category. Caleb Hostetter finished 6th and Logan Mabe finished 10th.

“I was very pleased with everyone’s efforts during the race,” Coach Danel Slaydon said. “We improved across the board from our last meet 12 days ago. That type of improvement is a great sign our training is working. We just need to keep the ball rolling for the next six weeks until the championship portion of the season, and I think we can surprise some people.”
