PCHS fall sports season tryouts begin

All Patrick County High School fall sports teams began practice Monday afternoon, including all of football (varsity, JV, and MS), volleyball (varsity, JV and MS), golf, and cross country. Practice sessions for teams will start at 3:30 p.m. and last until 6:30 p.m.
Activity buses began pickup on August 1 at the elementary schools. Buses will leave the elementary schools at 3 p.m. to go to the high school and will depart the high school at 6:30 p.m., returning to the elementary schools.
Athletes are required to have a completed/signed VHSL physical form before they will be allowed to attend any aspect of their chosen sport.
Golf practice will be held from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Gordon Trent Golf Course. Players should be dropped off and picked up at the course.
A Fall Sports Organizational Meeting was held at the Patrick County High School auditorium Monday evening. Athletic Director Terry Harris covered a number of topics pertaining to athletic participation for the 2016-2017 school year. Athletes and parents then broke for team meetings with each sport’s respective coach.

Coach Heidi Moore had 41 players come out for the first day of volleyball tryouts. Varsity, JV and middle school teams will be chosen after three days of tryouts with between 10-14 players on each team.
