Jalen Hagwood and David Smith were among members of the PCHS Golf Team to earn honors. Hagwood and Smith were named to the 1st Team All Region Golf Team.

By Ashlee Mullis

The Patrick County Golf Team made history by securing a spot to play for a state title. This is the first time in school history the team has made it to the State Tournament.

The Cougars shot a 349 on September 27 at the Olde Mill Golf Club Region 2C Tournament, 10 strokes behind Floyd.

That second-place finish resulted in the Patrick County team being named the 2C Runner-Ups.

Wesley Roberson also was honored. He was named 2nd Team All-Region.

Jalen Hagwood, Region 2C Player of the Year, shot a 79 for PC. David Smith shot an 85, Wesley Roberson shot an 89, and Noah Jessup shot a 96.

The Cougars will play in the AA State Tournament at Olde Mill on October 12.
