The Patrick County Varsity Golf Team travelled to Hot Springs, Virginia, to play on the Old Course at the Homestead on October 1 for the Region C Tournament. The Cougars placed 4thout of nine teams with a score of 359. Giles won the match with a score of 334, Radford was 2nd with a 336, Floyd came in 3rd with a 351, Chatham was 5th with a 375, 6th place was Appomattox with a 375, Dan River came in 7th with a 382, Fort Chiswell was 8th with a 386, and Gretna finished last with a 390. Wesley Roberson was the top scorer for the Cougars, shooting an 85. Jalen Hagwood shot an 87, David Smith shot a 90, and Taylor Swails finished with a 97. Coach Phillip Steagall said, “We played well on a course we had never been on. A few shots here and there can always make a difference in post-season play, I am proud of all our players for the progress they have made this year and am looking forward to seeing them return next year.”
