Two Patrick County High School graduates, Elliott Roberson and Ross Adams, have qualified for the 2017 FLW (Fishing League Worldwide) College Fishing National Championship. Their next competition will be held June 4, on the Potomac River.
The Virginia Tech Hokie Bass Fishing Team members qualified for the 2017 FLW (Fishing League Worldwide) College Fishing National Championship after placing seventh out of 83 teams at the FLW College Fishing Northern Conference opener on Smith Mountain Lake Saturday, April 23. The duo netted five bass weighing 13 pounds 1 ounce, securing their placement in the upcoming 2017 championship tournament.
Both anglers are past members of the Patrick County High School fishing team.
Elliott Roberson is the son of Beth and Junior Roberson of Claudville, and Ross Adams is the son of Karen and Billy Adams of Stuart. Both are juniors at Virginia Tech.
FLW College Fishing teams compete in regular-season qualifying tournaments in one of five conferences: Central, Northern, Southern, Southeastern and Western. The top 10 teams from each division’s three regular-season tournaments and the top 15 teams from the annual FLW College Fishing Open advance to the 2017 FLW College Fishing National Championship.
