There were two new teams in football jerseys in Stuart on Wednesday night. Instead of football pads and helmets, the players accessorized with eye black and flags as the ladies of the Class of 2020 took on the ladies of the Class of 2021.

For a $2 admission and a can of food for the food bank, fans got to see quite a show. Some of Patrick County’s finest young men of the junior and senior class, clad in Cougar Cheerleading uniforms, cheered as the senior ladies broke through the banner that read, “We’re 2020, so we know you see us coming.” The fans were not disappointed as they watched the ladies battle it out on the field.

The cheerleaders put on quite a show as well.  When not cheering and doing stunts, they were line dancing for the halftime show. Unfortunately for the seniors, the juniors were on fire. It was hard to stop their running game and get past their defenders. In the end, the juniors came out on top 36-16.  The senior quarterback, Kansas Cutchins, scored 14 of the 16 points for the seniors with two touchdowns and a two-point conversion. The other two points were scored on a safety. Mackenzie Belcher scored twice for the juniors and Gracen Edwards, Danielle King, and Caroline Vernon scored one touchdown each.
