The Patrick County High School JV Lady Cougars’ soccer season came to a close with a record of 1-1-1: one win, one loss and one tie.

The Lady Cougars are coached by Chelsea Snow and assisted by Houstan Boles.

In the first game of the season, PC won over Magna Vista High School on March 23 by a score of 4-1. Suzanne Gonzalez had two goals, Sadie Vernon had one goal, and one goal was self-scored by a Warriors player. Keeper Izzy Martin finished this game with six saves.

“I am so proud of the girls for opening up the season with such a strong start,” said Snow of the win.

On March 27, the PCHS took a loss from Halifax County High School 7-0. The Lady Cougars had ten shots on goal but could not score. Martin had 25 saves in goal for Patrick County.

April 6 was the date of the final game for the JV Lady Cougar team. PC faced Carroll County High School at home and finished the game 2-2. The Lady Cougars had 16 shots on goal this game and keeper Martin had six saves.

Dee Sowder scored first for the Lady Cougars. The Lady Cavaliers scored the next two goals in the game, giving them a 2-1 lead over the Lady Cougars. Sowder would attempt to score again and although the Lady Cavs keeper reflected the shot, the keeper could not stop Vernon from finishing the play. Vernon’s goal would be the final of the game and the season for the Lady Cougars.

“I am very proud of the girls for their dedication and hard work this season,” said Snow of the team.
