PCHS students attend Senior Beta National Convention

From June 26-30, members of the Senior Beta Club of Patrick County High School attended the National Beta Convention in New Orleans, La.
A total of 16 members were in attendance: Cole Bottorff, Jessica Bryant, Casey Campbell, Reanna Carico, Ella Cooper, Ashley Dalton, Helen Dawson, Lorena Delgado, Sidney Easter, Trevor Hazelwood, Marvin Kilgore, Brooke Michaud, Quinton Shipps, Madison Stowe, Nathaniel Wright, and Ashton Young.
Winners included: Casey Campbell won fourth place in science (11th-12th grade division), Helen Dawson placed within the top ten for creative writing, Trevor Hazelwood placed in the top ten for social studies (11th-12th grade division), and Nathaniel Wright won second place in mathematics (9th-10th grade division).
Additionally, the Quiz Bowl Team, which consisted of Casey Campbell, Ashley Dalton, Trevor Hazelwood, and Nathaniel Wright, placed in the Top eight of team rankings.
Senior Beta sponsors include Jonathan Turchek and Katherine Shockley.
With more than 450,000 active members and 8,750 clubs nationally and internationally, National Beta has become the nation’s largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization. National Beta promotes the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.
