Owen Smith preforms a head and arm pin

By Ashlee Mullis

The PCHS Wrestling Team hosted Magna Vista and Bassett on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The Cougars defeated Magna Vista 53-12 and Bassett 52-24. Coach Timothy Lawson said “These young men have worked hard everyday and improved tremendously so far this season. This was by far some of their best wrestling this season. Our coaches are proud of the effort they gave against these two teams and for the effort they continue to give each week. Hardwork and effort are what it takes to be successful and to continue improving throughout the season. Some of our goals coming into this season included: improving each match, defeating both our opponents in our home tri-match, improving our techniques, fundamentals and skills each practice, and be wrestling at our best by the end of the season.  With this groups great work ethic, good attitude, and determination they will continue to accomplish many of both their team and individual goals as they move forward.

Alfredo Gutierrez runs a bar for the pin.
