Barry Collins & The Mudflappers will headline the Patrick County Music Association’s Saturday, May 23, show.
The event will be held at the Hooker Building at Rotary Field in Stuart. Doors open at 5 p.m., and music begins at 6 p.m.
The Compton Brothers will also perform in place of long-time musician Jason Harris, who died in April.
PCMA President Denny Alley said Harris performed with both Collins and the Compton Brothers during his career.
“So the Comptons and Barry are going to do a tribute to Jason. They’re going to do about half a dozen of his songs that he’d sing” at events, Alley said. “They’re going to take time to honor him and do some of his songs.”
Alley said both groups typically perform country and bluegrass music.
“Then Barry’s a comedian too. He does comedy skits during the show,” Alley said.
On June 6, PCMA will hold a Songwriters Circle Series event at the Star Theatre. Local musicians, including Barry Hutchens, Will Hutchens, Miller Hopkins and Roger Handy, will perform original songs.
Dana Hunt Black, who has written songs for George Strait and Gary Allan, is also scheduled to perform.
PCMA will hold one more monthly music show in late June before taking a summer break. Monthly shows will resume in October.
Concessions will be available from the Patrick County Shooting Education Team, with proceeds supporting firearm safety education for local youth.
