PCRTA members enjoy fashion show

The Patrick County Retired Teachers held their general meeting, Monday, June 5, at the Landmark Center in Stuart.

Paula  Drady opened the meeting with a reading about the “Grand Old Flag.” Jessie Mae Vernon offered the blessing. A delicious meal was served by the Landmark dietary staff.  The highlight of the meeting was a fashion show planned by Nancy Peters, program chairperson. Members Betty Perry, Linda Wilson, Ann Belcher, Joanne Hill,  and Nancy Peters modeled fashions and matching accessories from The Little Dress Shop in Floyd.  The employees of the dress shop were present at the meeting and presented PCRTA members with a discount ticket redeemable at their shop.The PCRTA scholarship recipient for 2017 was Ariana Beasley who will be attending  Averett University.Three new officers were installed to fill vacancies. Betty Perry, PCRTA president, installed Karen Wood, secretary; Kristina Pombo, treasurer; and Phyllis Eastridge, reporter.  Emily Reed was presented with a hanging basket at the end of the meeting.Hostesses for the meeting were Ursula Allan, Sue Bleckley, Paula Drady, and Jessie Mae Vernon.
