CVS Pharmacy plans to acquire five Family Pharmacy locations in Virginia, including the store located at 301 B South Main Street in Stuart.

Company officials expect the acquisitions to begin to take place from mid-May to mid- to late-June.

The company will be purchasing the Stuart location and converting it to a CVS Pharmacy store in June.

The Stuart Family Pharmacy location will close its doors on Friday, June 22, and reopen as a CVS Pharmacy on Monday, June 25.

Patients can expect a seamless transition to CVS Pharmacy and will see many of the same faces they saw at the former Family Pharmacy.

“We are hoping to hire as many of the employees as we can,” officials said. CVS Pharmacy will continue to offer the services that Family Pharmacy currently offers, including home delivery. The company also plans to expand those services in the future.

In addition to the Family Pharmacy location in Stuart, CVS Pharmacy will purchase the prescription files and inventory of the four remaining Family Pharmacy locations: Bassett, Danville, Chatham and Rocky Mount.

Those Family Pharmacy locations will close between May 16-18, officials said. All prescription files and inventory will be transferred to nearby CVS Pharmacy locations at that time, and officials said the experience will be seamless for patients.
