Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) is expanding its Building Trades Academy, reinforcing its longstanding commitment to workforce development and hands-on career training.

The $2.6 million project, funded by the Workforce Pipeline Funds of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS), will enhance the Academy’s training capacity while maintaining uninterrupted learning for current students.

The Building Trades Academy has long served as a vital resource for individuals pursuing careers in skilled trades, providing industry-relevant instruction and hands-on experience in fields such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry. This expansion will modernize existing facilities, introduce new state-of-the-art equipment, and increase classroom and lab space to accommodate a growing student body.

“This expansion will allow us to serve more students and better prepare them for high-demand careers in the skilled trades in the communities served by P&HCC, all while continuing to deliver quality education throughout the renovation process,” said P&HCC President Dr. Greg Hodges.

Construction is set to be completed by June 2026, and all programs and classes will continue on a regular schedule during the renovation period.
