The Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) men’s soccer team announced its schedule for the upcoming 2016 season. The Patriots kick off the season with two exhibition matches: the first against Winstars Soccer Academy (Canada) which will be played at James Madison University on August 21 and the second at home on August 24 against Guilford College.
The regular season starts very quickly with a trip to University of South Carolina Salkehatchie on August 28. That game is followed by two matches in Keyser, W.Va., against Hagerstown Community College (MD) on September 2 and Potomac State College (W.Va.) on September 3. Following that stand, the team travels to Louisburg, N.C. on September 10 and 11 to play Community College of Baltimore College (CCBC)-Essex and Georgia Military.
The Patriots return home to the friendly confines of the Smith River Sports Complex for four straight matches. The home opener is September 14 against Wake Tech Community College at the Smith River Sports Complex and then face Richard Bland College (17th), Cape Fear CC (21st), and Spartanburg CC (SC) on September 24.
The team travels to USC Lancaster (September 25), Wake Tech (September 28), and Richard Bland (October 1) before the Patriots look to revenge a Region X championship loss last season when they face defending national champion Louisburg on October 4.
PHCC takes a week off from competition to prep for its rematch at home against Louisburg on October 12. The Patriots then bounce between away matches and Martinsville over a four game period starting at Spartanburg CC on October 15. The Patriots host USC Lancaster the following day. Then a game at Cape Fear on October 18 before returning home to close out the regular season against USC Salk on October 22.
The Patriots finished the season ranked 17th in the country last year with a 12-7-2 overall record and 12-3-1 in the conference.
