The Patrick Henry Community College volleyball team remained undefeated in Region X (10-0) by defeating Davidson County Community College Wednesday night, October 6 on the road in four sets: 25-23, 26-24, 24-26 and 25-20.
Sydney Garrett had 41 assists, 4 service aces and 14 digs. Randi Robertson had 14 kills and 27 digs. Janika Hunt had 9 kills and 9 blocks. Rachel Groves had 20 digs, 11 perfect passes of serve and 7 service aces.
Kristin Harris had 7 blocks and 4 kills. Kaleigh Griffith had 9 kills and 3 blocks. Mikayla Holland had 8 kills, 9 perfect passes of serve and 8 digs.
The girls played tough and really pulled together as a team after one of the starting outside hitters went down with a knee injury. Sydney Garrett ran the offense well by spreading the ball around and making their middles work hard on the block.
The Lady Patriots have two more conference matches before the Region X Tournament.
The Lady Pats are now 15-3 overall and 10-0 in Region X play. PHCC will host Louisburg CC on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. for their “Dig Pink” match for Breast Cancer Awareness. All proceeds from the door will go for Breast Cancer Research.
PHCC will host Sandhills Community College on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. and noon for a double header. Sandhills is currently ranked second behind PHCC in Region X with a 6-1 record.
