The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDoT) announced that portions of three roads soon will be closed to through traffic for bridge or pipe work.
• Beginning Wednesday, July 24, a portion of Virginia 772 (Old Mill Road) will be closed for a bridge replacement over Spoon Creek. The road is expected to be closed for approximately nine months. Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed in May, 2020.
• Beginning Monday, July 29, Virginia 710 (Woods Gap Road) will be closed to through traffic from Virginia 719 (Widgeon Creek Road) to Virginia 678 (Eanes Mountain Road) to replace the bridge over Little Widgeon Creek. Weather permitting, the road is expected to re-open Aug. 2.
• Also beginning Monday, July 29, a portion of Virginia 640 (Central Academy Road) will be closed to through traffic from 1.7 miles from U.S. 58 (Jeb Stuart Highway) to install a cross pipe. Weather permitting, the road is expected to be re-opened on Aug. 2.
Detours will be used and directional signs will be in place to help the motorists navigate the three closures.
