An Ararat man was arrested on drug-related charges following a Tuesday morning search warrant in Patrick County, according to Sheriff Dan Smith.
Dorian Evander Jones, 49, of 2967 Willis Gap Road, was taken into custody shortly after 10 a.m., according to Smith.
The sheriff’s Tactical Response Team executed a narcotics search warrant on the home, Smith said, and alleged large quantities of methamphetamine and heroin were seized.
The search Wednesday marked the culmination of a several months long drug probe into suspected drug trafficking, Smith said and added those in the Ararat community “have been victimized for too many years from the methamphetamine epidemic.
“We have arrested more than 250 drug dealers from the Ararat and Claudville communities alone over the past decade, and we’re not planning on stopping anytime soon,” the sheriff added in the release.
Smith said he and his office are committed to continuing their efforts to help keep the community “a wonderful place to live and raise a family.”
Jones is being held without bail on charges of possession of a Schedule II drug with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
