During the first week of December, the Title I staff at Patrick Springs Primary School hosted a Breakfast with the Panda for the whole school.

Title I staff members Amy Burnette, Teresa Havens and Diane Rorrer welcomed over 130 parents and grandparents to the school for this event. On Wednesday, December 7, all Headstart, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students, along with their parents and other family members, were excited to have breakfast with the school mascot, the Panda.

On Thursday, December 8, all first graders were greeted by the Panda and enjoyed breakfast with family members. Lastly, on Friday, December 9, second and third graders had breakfast with parents and grandparents.

When all groups finished their breakfast, Title I teacher Amy Burnette welcomed the parents and thanked them for their attendance. She reminded them of the importance of reading and to continue reading with their child over the Christmas break.

She also encouraged them to get their children to participate in the Panda Reading Club, where students read books and turn in the sheets to the school and at the end of each nine weeks, prizes are given to the top readers in each grade.

A table was set up to provide parents with suggestions on ways to encourage reading and to read with their child at home. At the conclusion, the Panda gave every student a coloring book or activity book and a pencil and eraser.

The Title I staff thanks everyone who helped with this event and hope the students enjoy their activity book over the holiday.
