Mr. Ralph Burton Phillips, age 98 of Stuart, Virginia passed away peacefully at his home on December 4, 2022. He was born in Floyd County on April 22, 1924, to the late Charlie Ross Phillips and Ocie Hollandsworth Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary D. Phillips; two children, Dennis Phillips, and Barbara P. Hall; four brothers, Charlie J. Phillips, Rev. Kirby Phillips, and two infant brothers. Ralph was a man of faith and devotion to his Lord and Savior, he was humble, and never complained even during hard times. He was an Elder at Community Primitive Baptist Church.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his devoted wife of almost 46 years, Elsie Mae Fain Phillips; two children, Wayne Phillips, and Judy Johnson; three stepchildren, James Fain and wife, Mary, Dorothy Cockram and husband, Bobby, and Patsy Hyler; many grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in Mitchell Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
