Raymond Dennis Jessup, Sr., 84, of Mount Airy, N.C., died Saturday evening, November 12, 2016, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C.
He was born in Patrick County on April 16, 1932 and was a son of the late Hillary Jessup and Laura Tilley Jessup. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ollie Jessup; a daughter, Linda Jessup; a son, Phillip Jessup; a sister, Betty Lou Bean; and two brothers, Alvin Jessup and Burton Jessup.
He was retired from Spencer’s after many years of dedicated service.
Surviving are his wife, Hallie Elizabeth “Libby” Golden Jessup of the home; daughters, Sharon Gravley, Deborah Creed, and Cynthia Jessup, all of Mount Airy; sons, Rayford Jessup of Westfield, N.C., Roger Jessup of Pilot Mountain, N.C., Raymond Jessup Jr. of Westfield, Kenneth Jessup of Francisco, N.C., and Bobby Jessup of Rural Hall, N.C.; a stepson, Rodney Hawks of Mount Airy; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Audrey Hayden of Mount Airy, and Helen Moorefield of Norwood, N.C.; brother, Otis Jessup of Claudville; and a special friend, Mary Ellen Jessup of Claudville.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Tony Goins and Deward Scott officiating . Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church cemetery fund, 497 Hatchers Chapel Rd., Claudville, VA 24076.
Arrangements are by Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
