Mr. Raymond Lester Thomas, age 85 of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He was born in Patrick County on June 26, 1941, to the late Posey Lester Thomas and Mary Rotenberry Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Ann Thomas; a daughter, Lisa Thomas Brumm, and two sisters, June Thomas Morris and Nancy Thomas Hooker. Ray retired from Ford Motor Company after many years of service. He was active in his church and the jail ministry. He loved studying his Bible, auto racing, football, hunting, traveling, spending time with his family, and most of all, leading people to the Lord.
Ray is survived by his son Duane Thomas (Maricely Hernandez) of Roanoke, VA; two grandchildren, Kaila Lubiarz and Nick Lubiarz; two brothers, Roy Thomas and Bobby Thomas, both of Martinsville, VA; five nephews, Ken Morris, David Morris, Justin Thomas, Jason Thomas, and Michael Hooker; and caregiver, Jeannette Atkins of Meadows of Dan, VA.
The graveside service for Mr. Thomas will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the George Lee Thomas Family Cemetery located at 6918 Jeb Stuart Highway, Meadows of Dan, VA 24120, with Pastor Shawn Carter officiating.
