The 2017 Patrick County real estate tax statements were mailed Monday, April 24th.  The statement design is the same as in year 2016 — one statement with two payment stubs.

The first ½ of 2017 real estate tax is due June 5, 2017 and the second ½ is due December 5, 2017.

Taxpayers are mailed one notice for each real estate parcel owned, and it is up to the taxpayer to bring or mail their payment by each due date — no reminder notice will be mailed.

Please read the statement carefully. Each stub states the appropriate due date and amount. Please note that the amount due on each stub is not always the same, so make sure to send the correct amount with the correct stub.

If taxpayers wish, they may pay the annual amount in full by sending both payment stubs, along with the annual amount, by the June 5th due date.

A 10% penalty is added to the first ½ of unpaid taxes on June 6.  Interest at a rate of 10% per annum will begin to accrue on unpaid taxes and penalty 26 days after each due date.  An insert is included with the tax statements explaining the real estate due dates.

If taxpayers do not receive their 2017 real estate tax notice by the middle of May, please call the Treasurer’s Office at 276-694-7257.

The Patrick County Treasurer’s Office is located at the Veterans Memorial Building, Room 221 in Stuart.  Mailing address is:  P.O. Box 668, Stuart, VA 24171.
