Registration is being accepted for the first STEP Car Show in Stuart, set for July 29 at the Patrick County High School in Stuart.

The event raises funds for Solutions That Empower People (STEP, Inc.), the community action agency which offers Head Start/Early Head Start, senior services, and supportive services in Patrick County.

Street rods, muscle cars, classics and trucks will be on display between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the high school, 215 Cougar Lane, Stuart. Registration is $15 per vehicle. Trophies will be awarded. The registration form can be accessed on the STEP website: www.stepincva.com or by calling the agency at (276) 694-2239 or (540) 483-5142.

The car show is hosted in cooperation with the Town of Stuart and Patrick County Parks and Recreation. Refreshments will be available.

According to STEP officials, sponsors for the event are also being sought. Sponsors can designate which services they wish to support. More than 3,500 individuals receive services each year in STEP’s service area, which includes Patrick, Franklin, Henry and Bedford counties, and the cities of Martinsville and Danville.

In addition to Head Start/Early Head Start, senior and supportive services, STEP provides financial and business services, youth services, and housing and weatherization. STEP’s mission is to address the symptoms and causes of poverty and to empower people to overcome barriers to success.
