Registration is being accepted for the second annual STEP Car Show, set for May 6 in Rocky Mount. The event raises funds for Solutions That Empower People (STEP, Inc.), the community action agency which offers services to low-income families and individuals in Franklin, Patrick, Henry and Bedford counties, and the cities of Martinsville and Danville.

Street rods, muscle cars, classics and trucks will be on display between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Faith Fellowship Church (also known as the “Double Bubble”) on Rt. 220 north of Rocky Mount. Registration is $20 per vehicle and includes one free lunch.

Trophies will be awarded in each category and Best Overall in Show. A rain date of May 20 has been set. The registration form can be accessed on the STEP website: www.stepincva.com or by calling the agency at (540) 483-5142.

According to STEP officials, sponsors for the event are also being sought. Sponsors can designate which services they wish to support.

More than 3,500 individuals receive services each year, including Head Start/Early Head Start; financial and business services; senior, supportive and youth services; and housing and weatherization. STEP’s mission is to address the symptoms and causes of poverty and to empower people to overcome barriers to success.
