The Jeb Stuart Rescue Squad is seeking full-time employees to help run calls and meet its mission of providing service to the community.
“We decided to do this due to the lack of call coverage. We’re missing about 30 percent of our calls each month,” due to a lack of volunteers and the closure of the local hospital which increases the time it takes to complete calls, Derek Wagner, captain of the squad, said.
The squad’s board unanimously voted to hire full-time ALS and BLS positions “to provide a higher quality care to the communities we serve,” he said.
Full-time employees will work 36 to 40 hours per week, covering 24-hour shifts, five days per week, Wagner said. Crews will run from 7 p.m. Sunday to 7 p.m. Friday, and employees may have the option of working 12 or 24-hour shifts.
Soft billing revenues will be tapped to pay for the new hires, Wagner said.
Full-times employees will work with the 8 part-time and 6 to 8 “extremely active” volunteers, Wagner said.
Volunteers also are welcome, Wagner said, and invited anyone interested to attend the squad’s membership meetings, held on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m., in the squad building, located at Address: 1258 American Legion Rd, Stuart.
