More than 100 runners and walkers participated in the Apple Dumpling Festival 5k on Saturday, October 19, in Stuart. This annual event, organized by the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce and Dan River Basin Association, is a great way to kick off the day of festivities.
A total of 115 participants enjoyed the crisp morning temperature as they ran or walked their way along the Mayo River Rail Trail.
Overall winners were: first male Eli Roberson in a time of 16:42, second David Kiser,18:24 and third place William Overby in 19:17.
First female was Ellianna Montgomery in 24:38, second was Olivia Bledsoe in 25:26 and third was Analeigh Jones in 26: 19.
Overall masters male was RJ Scott in a time of 20:48 and female masters was Roshne Davidson in 29:29.
Participants ranged from age six to 77, and from across the region as well as several local runners including the Stuart Elementary School Run Club and Patrick County High School Cross Country Team.
This event is a fundraiser for the Dan River Basin Association for trail development in Patrick County.
