The Patrick County Retired Teachers Association held a necrology service on September 20 to honor the memory and achievements of seven members who have passed away in 2020-2021. They are Magdalene Shockley, Polly Tatum. Vivian Joyce, Carol DeBruhl, Clarence Hall, Mary Ann Franklin, and Lena Mae Martin.

Janet Moore arranged the service and read the poems, “What Will Matter.” by Michael Josephson and “God’s Garden,” by Katie Evans before lighting candles for each deceased member. The candles were taken to family members.

New officers leading the Patrick County Retired Teachers are Betty Perry, President; Phyllis Eastridge, Vice President; Judy Lacks, Secretary; Kristina Pombo, Treasurer; Phyllis Eastridge, Reporter; and Nelson Moore, Parliamentarian.

The group invites interested individuals to join its book club that meets the third Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. at Patrick & Henry Community College in Stuart.
