Robert “Bob” Samuel Cox

Robert “Bob” Samuel Cox, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023. Mr. Cox was born in Patrick County to the late Walter Robert and Nellie Mae Beasley Cox. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  Especially his special little friend, Prince. He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn Jo Whorley Cox, one daughter and a son-in-law Pam Cox Sellers and Carl; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry Cox and Sandy, John M Cox; two brothers and sister-in-law Kenneth Cox and Sandy, Ralph Cox and Lynn, one sister, Mary Cox Osborne; eight grandchildren; Stephanie, Jessica, Marcia, Amy, Jacob, Robert, Zoey, and Tristen; ten great-grandchildren, Gracie, Georgia, Makayla, Breanna, Lucas, Christian, Sydney, Eve, Jeffrey, and Scarlette; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Cox Bassett; a stepson, Chad Rorrer; a grandson, Jeff Parrish; a great-granddaughter, Carlie Faith Anderson; a sister, Betty Nester and a brother, John D Cox.

Robert was a member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church, he worked as a salesman in textiles for fifty-three years, later worked at Terry Labonte Chevrolet, he also volunteered many years at Victory Junction, the NC Zoo, Randolph Hospital, and the Wyndham Golf Tournaments. Robert enjoyed spending time with family, playing golf, watching NASCAR and working on his lawn.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at 2:30 pm at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. A time of visitation will precede the service at 1:30 pm.  Burial will be at Randolph Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Beacon Place at Authoracare Collective, 2502 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405. Forbis and Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel is serving the Cox family. Online condolences may be offered at www.forbisanddick.com.
