Richmond, VA – Richmond Raceway Fueled by Sunoco is set to host RIR’s First eSports tournament featuring the ever-growing more popular Rocket League game on April 13, 2019. There will be 16- 3-player teams from around the country competing in multigame match play all day, leading up to the big finale when one player walks away with the championship just prior to the waving of the green flag on the track.
2050ESports and Fox Richmond are partners with Richmond Raceway for the event. The tournament’s featured matches and the championship match will be televised by Fox and live-streamed all day by Amazon’s internationally streaming network, Twitch. Thousands of fans and spectators are expected to attend the exciting Richmond Raceway eSports event.

Numerous events and activities are to take place during the competitive bracket of the tournament, including an open-bracket fan competition where players can register on-site to go head-to-head in matches, play in ’Beat the Keeper’ soccer challenges, and check out Rocket League demo game stations. Rocket League is highly successful based off its original idea of combining driving skills and soccer talent into a multiplayer game hosting a wide range of high-flying vehicles equipped with monster-size rocket boosters. Fans can score aerial goals and game-changing saves during the Rocket League Tournament. Fans will have opportunities to learn from professionals during the event.
The venue for the Rocket League Gaming Tournament event is the Main Expo Hall (next to the Midway) of Richmond Raceway located at 600 E Laburnum Ave, Richmond, VA 23222. It will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on April 13. The NASCAR Toyota Owners 400 Richmond night race will follow the eSports tournament.
