Rodney Fae Horton, aged 74 of Claudville, passed from this world on Monday, April 14, 2025. Born July 16, 1950, to Earnest William Horton and Flossie Bowman Horton, Rod, or “Hotrod” as he was known amongst friends, was a US Army Veteran, retired linesman, farmer, scrounger, trickster and consummate pain in the ass. He was also the most generous, loyal and dependable son, brother, uncle and friend.

Rod joins his parents and five siblings: Bill, James O’Neal, Don, Jan, and Dave. He is survived by two sisters Erlaine Watkins (Frank) of Burkeville, Virginia, and Kay Horton-Eutsler (Scott) of Stuart, Virginia, 14 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, and too many friends to count. Our world is quiet without him.

A funeral service will be held for Rod on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Moody Funeral Home and Chapel in Stuart. The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m., with services to follow at noon. Services will be officiated by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Burial will follow at the Pack Family Cemetery in Kibler Valley. Rod never had much time for flowers, so in lieu the family asks that any donations be made to the Rodney Horton Memorial Fund c/o Moody Funeral Home, PO Box 307 Stuart, VA 24171 or to the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard c/o Richard Cox at 7888 Woolwine Hwy, Woolwine, VA 24185. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
