Janet H. Rorrer announced this week she will be a candidate for Commissioner of the Revenue in this November 5th election.

The Commissioner of the Revenue is a Constitutional Officer elected by the voters of the locality every four years. The office maintains assessments for Personal Property, Business Property, Real Estate Parcels and State Corporation Commission Accounts.

It is the overseer of the Tax Relief for the Elderly and Handicapped, Veterans Disabled Exemptions and Transient Occupancy Tax.

Rorrer took office January 1, 2004. She is a member of the Commissioner of the Revenue Association, Virginia Association of Assessing officers, and the Virginia Association of Local Elected Constitutional Officers.

“It is an honor to serve the people of Patrick County,” said Rorrer, who lives in the Moorefield Store Community with her husband, Michael G. Rorrer.
