My wife and I nominate Tom Rose for an Emmy Award.

(Category: Peacemaker) As many of you know, Tom is our soft-spoken Patrick County Administrator. He performs his job with integrity, fairness, and a sincere desire to please Patrick County taxpayers.

Needless to say the Rose family is an asset to Patrick County. Having said that, we see no justification as to why an elected county politician recently used the “R” word with respect to Tom Rose’s job performance. We refuse to define the “R” word here with any reference to Tom Rose and the cold-hearted consequences it would have for his productive, hard-working, faithful family. No discussion needed.

The Rose family is a treasured gift to this county. We are fortunate to have them here.

Jim and Myra Stegall

Stuart, Va.

(Editor’s note – Crystal Harris, of the Smith River District, called for Rose to step down at a recent meeting at the Patrick County Board of Supervisors, citing poor job performance and other issues.)
