The recycling trailer parked at the Rotary Building on Wayside Drive will be rotated between two county areas that county officials consider underserved in access to recycling.

At the March 13 meeting, the Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to support rotating the trailer between the Fairy Stone Volunteer Fire Dept. on Virginia 57 and the Moorefield Store area. The trailer will be moved this week, and a schedule will soon be released.

At the board’s February meeting, County Administrator Tom Rose mentioned that he had heard about garbage found stacked on top of the trailer and trash found blowing about Rotary Field.

One maintenance worker was stuck by a needle left in the recycling and had to receive medical treatment, he said. Supervisor Karl Weiss, Blue Ridge District, also said maintenance workers had found a dead animal in the trailer.

No problems have been reported at any of the other county recycling locations.
