Mrs. Ruby Hopkins Barnard, age 82 of Stuart, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.  She was born on February 9, 1937 in Patrick County to the late W.T. “Dud” Hopkins and Rosa Hubbard Hopkins.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. “Billy” Barnard; one sister, Belle Hopkins; and five brothers, Amos, Paul, Robert, John, and Roger Hopkins.

          Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Edward and Marcia Barnard of Stuart; two grandchildren, Jason Barnard and fiancé, Elizabeth Tilley, Rene’ Lynn Joyce and husband, Bradley; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Ray of Charlottesville, Laura and Jim Edwards of Stuart, Mildred and Richard Dodson of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews.

          A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Patrick Memorial Gardens with Richard Dodson officiating.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Heart Association c/o Patty Hazelwood, 1988 Wayside Rd, Stuart, VA 24171.  Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
