Ruby Lavelle McMillian Wood, 90, of Bassett, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016.
She was born April 30, 1926, in Ararat and was a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland McMillian and Maude Hiatt McMillian. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Guy Wood; sons, Randy Wood and Arthur Wood; and one sister, Mildred Simmons.
Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Patterson of Roxboro, N.C. and Karyn Spears of Chico, Calif.; one son, Terry Wood of Bassett; one sister, Germaine Saunders of Lexington, Ky.; five granddaughters; one grandson; two great-granddaughters; and four great-grandsons.
She was a member of Mt. Hermon Church of the Brethren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with Pastor Noel Naff officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermon Church of the Brethren cemetery.
