RUTH ELIZABETH CONNER HUBBARD

Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Conner Hubbard, age 87 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Patrick County on August 4, 1931 to the late Irby Elijah Conner and Nellie Alice Rorrer Conner. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hubbard was preceded in death by her husband, Harlie Elton Hubbard; a sister, Rachel C. Hughes; and a brother, Randolph B. Conner. She was the longest serving member at Conner’s View Primitive Baptist Church. She loved working in her vegetable garden and sharing her produce with the whole community.

Mrs. Hubbard is survived by five daughters, Carolyn Bryant and family friend, John Halsey of Stuart, Linda Nester and husband, Paul of Laurel Fork, Betty Garland of Winder, Georgia, Susan Hubbard of Willis and Kathryn Epperson and husband, Kent of Ararat; a son, David Hubbard and fiancée, Debbie Hall of Meadows of Dan; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Conner and wife, Ann, Roger Conner and wife, Brenda, all of Meadows of Dan; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Conner’s View Primitive Baptist Church, with Elders Eddie Bunn and Jerry Nester officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Conner’s View Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Barry Fain, 459 Woodland Drive, Stuart, Va. 24171 or to the American Cancer Society, 1079C Spruce Street, Martinsville, Va. 24112. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling the arrangements, and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
