Sam Robert Holt, 86, of Westfield Road, Westfield, N.C., died Sunday afternoon, May 1, 2016, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C.
He was born April 10, 1930, in Patrick County, a son of the late Bob and Lottie Beverly Holt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Iva Pack and Lelia Goins; and a brother, Amos Holt.
He retired from Kentucky Derby Hosiery after many years of service.
Surviving are three daughters, Evelean Holt Schwartz and Christine H. Gordon, both of Pinnacle, N.C., and Elizabeth H. Quesinberry of Pilot Mountain, N.C.; six sons, Frank Holt and Tony Holt, both of King, N.C., Darrell Holt and Dale Holt, both of Pinnacle, and Clyde Holt and Norman Holt, both of Mount Airy, N.C.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Bowman of Sandy Ridge, N.C.; one brother, Billy Holt of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held today (Wednesday) at 4 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Revs. Jerry Pardue and Jack Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in The Peoples Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 3 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
