Alessandra Moran, who graduated in the top 10 of Patrick County High Schools’ class of 2020, was recently awarded the Emory & Henry Founder’s Scholarship, which provides $20,000 annually.
Additionally, Alessandra was invited to join the Emory & Henry Honors Program, which provides an annual scholarship of $21,000, as well as separate housing, academic stipends and offers students opportunities to participate in fully funded activities and trips abroad.
Alessandra also was the recipient of several local scholarships, including the Richard, Cornelius, and Vera Stanley Memorial Scholarship, the Stuart Elementary School Scholarship, the H.H. Webb and Nora Midkiff Webb Scholarship, and the Gail Harding Memorial Scholarship.
She plans to double major in English and film studies. She is the daughter of Dr. Alissa and Rev. Shaun Draughn, of Stuart; and Juan Moran, also of Stuart; and the granddaughter of Phyllis and Gary Combs of Stuart, and Walter and Shelby Draughn of Lawsonville, N.C.
