On October 20, Patrick Henry Community College held its 14th annual Foundation Scholarship Luncheon where 144 scholars, donors, and PHCC affiliates were honored for their donations, support, and educational pursuits. The luncheon enables the recipients of PHCC’s 283 scholarships to meet the 111 donors who enabled them to pursue their education.
The participants heard from Eddie Dillard, a state trooper with the Virginia State Police and one of PHCC’s 2016 Distinguished Alumni. Dillard earned his associate degree in administration of justice from PHCC in 2005. He graduated from the Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Academy in 2007.
In his talk, he reminded students to value their education, the resources afforded to them at PHCC, and the professors they meet by sharing his own experiences as he transitioned from PHCC into the workforce.
Dr. Greg Hodges, PHCC’s vice president of institutional advancement, effectiveness, and campus life, also addressed the students. Hodges encouraged the students to remember 10 key lessons about success and perseverance that Hodges learned from his own life.
