Patrick County School Board members on Thursday learned the school district is in compliance with respect to certain federally funded programs.

Schools Superintendent Bill Sroufe during the meeting presented information about audits of the two federally funded programs.

The Virginia Department of Education on March 6 and 17 monitored certain records to ensure Title 1, Part A and Title III, Part A, were implemented as stipulated by law, according to a May 5 letter from the DOE.

“The department is pleased to inform you that your … programs and activities met program requirements,” from Lynn Sodat, director of the Department of Education’s Office of Program Administration and Accountability.

Cyndi Williams is coordinator of the Title I, Part A program; Andrea Cassell is coordinator of the Title III, Part A program, the letter stated.

Board members also approved a consent agenda that included a Capital Improvement Report for certain short term projects, such as painting projects in certain school buildings, installing a scoreboard at the football field and adding some surface material to a playground.

After briefly meeting in closed session, the school board voted to rescind a motion regarding an employee change, from renewal to non-renewal.

The next meeting is scheduled to be held at 5:30 p.m. on June 22.
