PCHS senior baseball star, Seth Scott signed to continue his baseball career at Averett University last Thursday, May 24.
He said he chose Averett because, “AU offered the academics that I wanted and the opportunity to play baseball.”
Scott plans to get his bachelor’s degree in nursing.
He is without a doubt one of the keys to success for the Cougars in the current season and the past seasons he has played.
He said he is excited for this new chapter, but will miss Patrick County and the baseball program.
“I will miss stepping onto PC’s field with my teammates that I have played ball with for ten years. I will miss my coaches and their philosophies,” Scott said.
Head Coach Eric Renegar said, “Seth will have continued success in any venture life throws his way. Seth is a special player, one that can truly impact all as soon as he steps on campus.” Scott will be “impossible” to replace, “He is a rare combination of size, speed, and grit.”
Scott attributes his success to the constant support of his parents, coaches, and teammates.
“I definitely would like to thank my parents for all the support, work and time they have put in to help me along the way. My coaches for always being there and putting in their time to help me be a better baseball player and a better person,” Scott said.
“Coach Rakes and Coach Renegar have helped me not only on the field but in life as well, and I am forever grateful for the time I got to spend playing for them. I’m sad that we will never play baseball together again but I am very thankful for teammates.” Scott said he is not able to pinpoint a single cherished memory. “I enjoyed every second being a part of that team from the practices to the games, rain delays and bus rides, winning and losing,” he said. “I will always remember my senior season as a whole, not just one detail. I am very blessed to have had the opportunity to play baseball as Patrick County Cougar.”
