A little U.S. Flag history: The Grand Union Flag, used during the American Revolutionary War, featured 13 alternating red and white stripes with the British Union Jack in the corner, symbolizing the colonies’ connection to Britain while asserting their desire for independence.
With America’s 250th Birthday approaching the Colonel Abram Penn Chapter DAR is looking for the oldest U.S. flag in Patrick County. The flag can be a personal possession or housed in a town or county building. If you have a U.S. flag and want to share its story, please contact Ann McConnell a nammcconnell@yahoo.com.
