Happy 98th birthday to Grover Roark who celebrated his special day with Patrick County Seniors at their monthly meeting on April 10. Mr. Roark, who is from Sandy Ridge, N.C., told Judy Lacks. chairman of the planning committee for the senior’s group, that he was going to honor himself on his birthday by making a donation to the Patrick County Seniors group.

A widower, who is retired from General Mills, Mr. Roark is a vendor at the Stuart Farmers’ Market when it operates, selling vegetables and honey that he produces on his farm. He still drives wherever he wants to go and has his church life and reading to keep him occupied in his spare time.

Herbert and Tina Conner entertained the group which meets on the second Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. at Rotary Field.

Meetings of the senior group are sponsored by the Patrick County Parks and Recreation Department. All seniors are invited to attend. Lunch is always enjoyed by the group and Blue Ridge Therapy Connection and The Landmark Center are there each month to check blood pressure levels.
