ServSafe food protection manager certification class offered

The Patrick County Extension office will hold a ServSafeā„¢ Food Protection Manager Certification class and exam during the month of October.
Recently the Virginia Board of Health adopted revised Virginia food regulations. This revision states that at least one employee with supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control food preparation and service must be a certified food protection manager through passing a test that is part of an accredited program
The ServSafeā„¢ Food Protection Manager class is a two-day course that prepares participants to sit for the national exam. The dates for this class will be Wednesday, October 12, and Wednesday, October 19. At the end of the second class, participants will take the proctored exam.
Participants who successfully pass the exam will be awarded a certificate that is valid for five years.
The cost for this class is $150 and includes the instructor-led classes, textbook, exam and certificate to those who attain a passing score.
These training classes will be held in the Community Room of Patrick Henry Community College in Stuart. Advanced registration and payment is required. Please contact Terri Alt, Family and Consumer Science Extension Agent at the Patrick County Extension office at (276) 694-3341 to register.
