Sheriff reports arrests

Sheriff Dan Smith reported the following arrests:
• James Wesley Foley III, 47, of Independence, was arrested Sept. 20 on a charge of failure to appear in court on a felony charge and an indictment count of obtaining money by false pretense.
Deputy Brad Holt made the arrest on the first charge for Carroll County and for Smyth County on the second charge.
• Jason Todd McKinney, 40, of Bassett, was arrested Sept. 21 on a charge of driving a motor vehicle with a revoked or suspended license.
Deputy D.L. Foley made the arrest.
• Gary Owen Williams, 50, of Claudville, was arrested Sept. 21 on a charge of probation violation.
Deputy K. Vaughan made the arrest.
• Jay Devin Griffith, 23, of Bassett, was arrested Sept. 23 on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and making a false statement on a consent form.
State Trooper R. Dillon made the arrest.
• Steven Bradley Smith, 39, of Stuart, was arrested Sept. 25 on charges of driving while intoxicated, first offense, and reckless driving.
State Trooper K.D. Mabe made the arrest.
• Sara Ann Scott, 26, of Stuart, was arrested Sept. 25 on a charge of reckless driving.
Deputy Dillon made the arrest.
