Shirley Marie Barbour, 67, of Bassett, died Sunday, August 28, 2016, at her home.
She was born on May 14, 1949, to Viola Via of Stuart and the late Lester Lee Via. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one grandchild.
She was a seamstress and daycare provider for many. She was a member of Alpha Faith Temple Church of Martinsville.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her children, Jimmy Barbour of Martinsville and Perry Barbour of Greensboro, N.C.; brothers, Lester Leon Via of Washingtonville, N.Y., Lawrence Glenwood Via of New Rochelle, N.Y., Jessie Via of Martinsville; sisters, Delois Barbour of Bassett and Susie V. Hairston of Stuart; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Special thanks and recognition to the following: Carolyn Barbour, Shirley’s nieces and caregiver; Daphne Woods liaison; and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care of Stuart.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, at Greater International Pentecostal Church and other times at the home on Mary Hunter Drive, Bassett.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Greater International Pentecostal Church with Elder David Cabiness officiating. Burial will follow at The Only Way Church of Christ, 349 Goblintown Road, Stuart.
Arrangements are by Bassett Funeral Service.
