Spelling bee held

Patrick County Public Schools held its annual Spelling Bee on Tuesday, March 5 at Patrick County High School.  Elementary students from throughout the county represented their schools.

Third place was Callie Wood, a fifth grader at Meadows of Dan Elementary School.  Second Place was Gina Rubio, a seventh grader at Blue Ridge Elementary School.

The winner of the spelling bee was Quentyn Penn, a sixth grader at Stuart Elementary School.  The winning word was “interrupt”.  Penn will go on to represent Patrick County in the Regional Spelling Bee which will be held on March 24 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
